A&M clinches at least a share of Big 12 title

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Holly Ridley hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs to power fifth-ranked Texas A&M to a 6-3 victory over Nebraska on Sunday, assuring the Aggies of at least a Big 12 co-championship.

"It is such a big deal," A&M head coach Jo Evans said. "We have so many great teams in our conference and to come out here and just do what we did this weekend, it is a big deal."

A&M (45-7, 16-1) can clinch an outright title by beating Texas on Wednesday in the regular season finale or if Oklahoma (41-11, 14-2) loses one of its two games at Baylor (22-19, 4-11) next weekend. A&M also won the title outright in 2005.

A&M senior right-hander Megan Gibson (29-1) pitched an eight-hitter, striking out six.

Rhiannon Kliesing, Erin Glasco and Jami Lobpries each had two hits along with Ridley, who is hitting .366 in league play with 15 RBIs.

Nebraska (19-25, 1-12) is in last place. The three-time Big 12 champ never had a losing season in the league until this year.
