Tim DeRuyter has been hired as the A&M football team’s defensive coordinator and assistant head coach.
The hiring of the former Air Force defensive coordinator was made by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents on Thursday.
DeRuyter's hiring wasn't announced until 5:30 p.m., long after DeRuyter's old team had moved on.
Matt Weikert, who just completed his third year as outside linebackers at Air Force, was listed as DC on the team's Web site Thursday afternoon. DeRuyter's information has been removed.As a followup to a reader's comments, Air Force is listing Matt Wallerstedt as co-defensive coordinator, assistant head coach and inside linebackers. Weikert, though, is listed first. There's no story, so maybe that was the easiest way for the Falcons to delete DeRuyter. We'll see.
