A&M posts top qualifying time in 400 relay

AUSTIN -- Texas A&M's Richard Adu-Bobie, Gerald Phiri, Dominique Stafford and Chris Dykes posted the fastest qualifying time in the 400-meter relay Friday at the 81st Texas Relays at Myers Stadium.

In 55-degree, rainy weather, the Aggie foursome finished in 39.26 seconds, just behind the world-leading mark of 39.17 they ran last weekend at the Florida State Relays.

Phiri and Porscha Lucas also took the top spot in qualifying in the men's and women's 100, respectively.

A&M women's 400 relay team of Elizabeth Adeoti, Lucas, Simone Facey and Gabby Mayo qualified for the finals in 44.50, the second-fastest time behind LSU's 44.19. Jennifer Williams and Whitney Holmes also qualified in the 100 hurdles.

A&M's Hillary Pustka won the B division javelin with a career-best mark of 161 feet, 5 inches.
