Texas A&M had one player and two recruits selected on the first day of the Major League Baseball draft Tuesday.

Junior right-handed pitcher Alex Wilson was picked in the second round, 77th overall, by the Boston Red Sox. As a starter and middle-inning reliever, Wilson struck out a team-high 120 batters in 89 2/3 innings this season. The transfer from Winthrop, who had to sit out a year at A&M because of an arm injury, was 6-6 with a 4.22 ERA. He was selected in the 10th round by the Chicago Cubs last year.

Two players recruited to A&M by head coach Rob Childress had their names called -- Shelby Miller and Todd Glaesmann. Miller, a right-handed pitcher from Brownwood High School, was picked 19th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals. Glaesmann, an outfielder out of Waco Midway, went in the third round, 108th overall, to Tampa Bay.

The draft continues Wednesday, beginning with the fourth round (112th pick).
