Ag women tied for 12th in New Mexico: ALBUQUERQUE -- The Texas A&M women's golf team shot 303-303--606 on Saturday and is tied for 12th at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the University of New Mexico's Championship Golf Course.

A&M trails leader Pepperdine (575) by 31 strokes going into Sunday's final round of the 18-team event. Oregon's Kendra White is the individual leader with a 7-under total of 71-68--139.

A&M's Sarah Zwartynski is tied for 23rd (74-74--148), Julia Boland is tied for 30th (73-76--149), Ashley Freeman is tied for 45th (78-74--152), Sarah Beth Davis is tied for 79th (78-79--157) and Chloe Garner is tied for 91st (80-80--160). Aly Smith, competing as an individual, is tied for 88th (82-77--159).

TENNIS

Aggies lose in quarterfinals at Invitational: MIDLAND -- Texas A&M sophomore John Lewis and junior Marcus Lunt fell in the quarterfinals of singles and doubles at the 10th Annual Midland Collegiate Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Midland Racquet Club.

Lewis beat Texas' Ben Chen 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the round of 16 but lost 6-1, 7-5 in the quarterfinals to Rice's Oscar Podlewski.

In doubles, Lewis and Lunt beat Oklahoma's Blake Boswell and George Chanturia 8-3 in the round of 16 then lost 8-4 to Texas' Vasko Mladenov and Josh Zavala.

Klegou reaches semifinals at USTA event: AUSTIN -- Texas A&M sophomore Alexis Klegou advanced to the semifinals of the USTA men's future singles wild card tournament Saturday at the Polo Tennis & Fitness Club.

Klegou beat former Texas standout Miguel Reyes Varela in the quarterfinals and will face top-seeded Dimitar Kutrovsky of Texas on Sunday.

A&M junior transfer Jack Seider and Kayvon Karimi lost in the round of 16.

Urbina advances to semifinals at Midland Tournament: MIDLAND -- Texas A&M freshman Nazari Urbina picked up two victories Saturday to advance to the semifinals in the singles bracket at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational.

Urbina defeated Julie Chao of Rice 6-0, 6-2 before beating 47th-ranked Pichittra Thongdach of Boise State 6-7, 6-2, 1-0 (6). Urbina will take on No. 110 Mary Weatherholt of Nebraska on Sunday.

Urbina also will be playing in the semifinals in doubles with partner Sheri Olivier. The Aggie duo defeated Pepperdine's Anamika Bhargava and Maria Zalameda in the round of 16 and downed Ana Guzman and Jessica Jackson of Rice in the quarterfinals.

Lauren Santacroce and Stephanie Davidson were eliminated in the doubles round of 16 by Kayla Duncan and Megan Alexander of TCU, 8-3.

TRACK & FIELD

Aggies set indoor schedule: Texas A&M will host five collegiate meets during the 2010 indoor track and field season, highlighted by a dual meet with the Texas Longhorn men and women as well as a three-conference challenge.

A&M will host Texas on Jan. 23, while the Texas A&M Challenge, set for Jan. 29-30, will included Texas, Baylor, Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, Oregon, Stanford and Washington State.

The indoor season will also include the 10-event Reveille Invitational and the Texas A&M Invitational.
