Aggies to begin fall workouts: The Texas A&M baseball team begins preparations for the 2010 season Monday by opening fall workouts at Olsen Field.
The fall roster is divided into two teams that will scrimmage each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at approximately 3 p.m. Regular workouts will take place on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
All practices and scrimmages are open to the public.
GOLF
Ag women finish 11th in New Mexico: ALBUQUERQUE -- Texas A&M senior Ashley Freeman closed with an even-par 73 on Sunday, leading the Aggies (303-303-298--904) to 11th place at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the University of New Mexico's Championship Golf Course.
Pepperdine won the 18-team event with a 10-under 859. Oregon's Kendra Little captured individual honors at 12-under (71-68-68--207).
A&M junior Sarah Zwartynski was 21st (74-74-74--222), Freeman tied for 29th (78-74-73--225), Julia Boland tied for 35th (73-76-77--226), freshman Sarah Beth Davis tied for 62nd (78-79-74--231) and freshman Chloe Garner was 90th (80-80-78--238). Freshman Aly Smith, playing as an individual, tied for 84th (82-77-78--237).
TENNIS
Aggies fall in semifinals at Midland tourney: MIDLAND -- Members of the Texas A&M women's tennis team suffered losses in Sunday's semifinal matches at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational.
Freshman Nazari Urbina fell to 110th-ranked Mary Weatherholt of Nebraska, 7-6, 7-5, in singles. The Aggie doubles duo of Urbina and Sheri Olivier lost to Boise State's Pichittra Thongdach and Lauren Megale 9-7.
In upcoming action, A&M's Elzé Potgieter and Morgan Frank begin their fall seasons Oct. 3-4 in the pre-qualifying rounds of the ITA All-American championships at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the UCLA campus.
