Aggies drop pair over weekend: SPRING -- The Texas A&M softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at the SKGSL College Classic before Sunday's play was canceled because of rain.

The Aggies fell to Stephen F. Austin, 3-2, and Texas State, 4-1. Their games with Southern Mississippi and UTSA were called off.

A&M returns to action Tuesday with a doubleheader against Blinn. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex.

Lewis falls at ITA All-American Championships: TULSA, Okla. -- Texas A&M sophomore John Lewis lost in the quarterfinals of the prequalifying singles draw at the D'Novo/ITA Men's All-American Championships on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Lewis picked up a 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (6) victory over Javier Tori of South Carolina-Upstate in the round of 16 before falling in a third-set tiebreaker to 14th-seeded Javier Pulger, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (7) in the quarterfinals.

Junior Kayvon Karimi lost in the round of 16 to Arkansas' Dmitry Lebedev in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

Aggie women's doubles team advances to qualifier at All-American Championships: LOS ANGELES -- Texas A&M's doubles team of Morgan Frank and Elzé Potgieter notched a pair of victories Sunday, advancing to the 32-team qualifying bracket at the Women's Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on the UCLA campus.

The Aggie tandem opened with an 8-5 victory over Courtney McLane and Alexa Guarachi of Alabama, then defeated Courtney Byron and Stephanie Hammel of UC Irvine by the same score.

Frank and Potgieter will face Berkeley Brock and Lenka Hojckova of North Carolina State in the qualifier first round Tuesday at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Potgieter also opens singles play Tuesday and is slated to face No. 4 seed Mari Andersson of California.

A&M's other doubles team in action -- Stephanie Davidson and Nazari Urbina -- lost to Megan Alexander and Maria Bebanova of TCU, 8-2, in the prequalifier second round.
