Texas A&M men's golf coach J.T. Higgins will caddy for former Aggie standout Andrew Parr at the Shell Houston Open, which begins on Thursday at Redstone Golf Club. Parr will start the first round at 2 p.m. on the 10th hole.
Parr fired a 6-under 66 to tie for second place in Monday's qualifier at Cypresswood Golf Club.
Parr earned All-America honors at A&M in 2006 after leading the Aggies to three straight NCAA Championship appearances. He owns the school record for career rounds (150) and is second in sub-par rounds (48).
Other Monday qualifiers were Steve Allen (65), Craig Kanada (66) and Tripp Isenhour (66). Among those who failed to qualify were two-time U.S. Open champion Lee Janzen.
Former A&M standouts Jeff Maggert and Shane Bertsch also will compete at the SHO. Maggert earned All-America honors at A&M in 1986, and Bertsch was a All-Southwest Conference pick in 1991 and 1992.
