BASKETBALL

A&M women move up to No. 8: The Texas A&M women's basketball team moved up a spot to No. 8 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Women's poll.

The Aggies (22-5) moved by California, which dropped to ninth.

A&M will host Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Thursday on Senior Night.

SOFTBALL

Ridley earns two national honors: Texas A&M senior Holly Ridley was named national player of the week by USA Softball Collegiate and Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association. She also was named the Big 12's player of the week with teammate Rhiannon Kliesing earning pitcher of the week.

Ridley was 10-for-16 batting last weekend with five doubles, eight RBIs and two home runs, including a walk-off home run against 10th-ranked Arizona. She is on an 11-game hitting streak.

Sophomore right-hander Kliesing was 3-0 in the circle with two victories over Arizona.

Overall last weekend, A&M won two of three games against Arizona and beat Monmouth twice.

A&M, which climbed four spots to No. 17 in this week's USA Today/NFCA Top 25, will be at Houston at 6 p.m. Wednesday. A&M remains unranked by ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate.

SWIMMING

A&M women ranked eighth: The Texas A&M women's swimming team is No. 8 in the final College Swim Coaches Association of America dual meet poll.

A&M, which opened the season at No. 9, finished in the Top 10 for a third straight year.

The Aggies will find out Friday who qualified for the NCAA Championships on March 19-21 at the Student Rec Center Natatorium. Team members that do not qualify will compete in the Speedo Championship Series Southern Sectional Meet at the Rec Center this weekend.

TENNIS

A&M women break into Top 25; men fall out: The Texas A&M women's tennis team cracked the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Top 25 poll at No. 24 this week.

It's A&M's highest ranking since being No. 24 on April 24, 2007.

In addition, sophomore Morgan Frank moved up to a career-high No. 98 in national singles.

The A&M men's tennis team, which was No. 13 last week, fell out of the Top 25 to No. 36.

Meanwhile, A&M senior Conor Pollock and sophomore Austin Krajicek climbed to No. 6 in the ITA doubles rankings. The duo is 14-5 this season and 6-1 in dual matches on the first line.

Sophomore Wil Spencer jumped 13 spots to No. 22 in singles, while Pollock is No. 24 and Krajicek is No. 107.
