A&M women at Big 12 Championship: LUBBOCK -- The Texas A&M women's golf team will compete in the 54-hole Big 12 Championship on Friday through Sunday at Texas Tech.

A&M, which won the Big 12 in 2006 and 2007, was runner-up to Oklahoma State last year.

Fourth-ranked OSU, the only ranked Big 12 team, is the favorite.

A&M will be represented by senior Lauren Johnson, junior Ashley Freeman and sophomores Sarah Zwartynski, Stephanie Smith and Alexa Porter.

"The girls have been working on different types of shots that we will need to play the Rawls Course," A&M head coach Trelle McCombs said. "We've gone over the golf course hole-by-hole. Three of our five players have played this golf course and have a good sense of what to expect. I really like our chances, and I think we are fully prepared for anything."
