A&M netters and assistant coach honored: Texas A&M three-time All-American Conor Pollock, two-time All-American Austin Krajicek and assistant coach Bob McKinley were honored as regional and national award winners by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Pollock was the national winner of the ITA/John Van Nostrand Memorial Award. The award is a stipend given to a senior player who plans to pursue a professional career. He won the same award for the South Central Region along with the Farnsworth/ITA Senior Player of the Year. Krajicek won the ITA Player to Watch for the South Central Region and McKinley won the region's ITA Assistant Coach of the Year.

Pollock was an All-Big 12 Conference selection three times in singles and twice in doubles and reached the NCAA singles final eight this year. Pollock is the third A&M player to earn regional Farnsworth/ITA Senior Player of the Year, joining Ryan Newport (2003) and Carlos Tori (1998). Pollock was also the national and regional winner of the ITA/John Van Nostrand Memorial Award which is a stipend that is bestowed upon an outstanding senior men's player who plans to pursue a career on the professional tennis circuit after college.

Krajicek, a sophomore, had a team-leading 18-6 dual record playing primarily at No. 2 singles. He and doubles partner Pollock also went 30-9 overall in doubles and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Doubles Championships for the second year in a row. He is the second Aggie to earn regional ITA Player to Watch honors joining Shuon Madden (2000).

McKinley is in his third season at A&M. A&M head coach Steve Denton praised McKinley's work ethic, consistency, reliability and knowledge of the game. McKinley is the only college assistant tennis coach who has been inducted into the ITA Hall of Fame as a player and as a coach.

VOLLEYBALL

Ammerman takes bronze: Sarah Ammerman, an outside hitter on the Texas A&M volleyball team, earned a bronze medal as a member of the U.S. Women's National A2 Blue Team at the USA Adult Open Volleyball Championships in Minneapolis this week.

It was the second consecutive year the senior-to-be has played for the USA A2 program and won the bronze medal. Ammerman also won a bronze medal as a member of the USA Red team at the 2008 USA Adult Open Championships in Atlanta.
