CROSS COUNTRY

Aggies heading to Wisconsin Invitational: MADISON, Wisc. -- Texas A&M will help open the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course at University Ridge on Saturday at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.

The Aggies will be part of a 15-team field. The men run at 11 a.m. over an 8,000-meter course, while the women start at 11:45 a.m. and race 5,000 meters.

SOFTBALL

Aggies open fall competition: The Texas A&M softball team opens its fall season this weekend, traveling to the SKGSL College Classic in Spring.

On Saturday, the Aggies face Stephen F. Austin and Texas State at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. On Sunday, A&M takes on Southern Mississippi at 9 a.m. followed by UTSA at 11 a.m.

A&M returns 11 letterwinners from a 2009 squad that appeared in its eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament and finished the season with a 33-22 record.

VOLLEYBALL

Aggies host Jayhawks: The Texas A&M volleyball team will host the Kansas Jayhawks at 2 p.m. Saturday in Big 12 play.

The Aggies are 4-0 at Reed Arena, including a 3-1 victory against No. 6 Nebraska in their most recent home match.

A&M, however, has lost it last two matches on the road. The Aggies (9-3, 2-2) dropped a five-set match at Missouri on Saturday and fell in three sets at No. 2 Texas on Wednesday.

Kansas (9-4, 2-2) is 0-14 all-time in College Station and currently tied with A&M and Missouri for sixth place in the Big 12 after defeating Colorado 3-1 on Wednesday in Lawrence, Kan.

Tickets are $9 for reserved seats, $7 for adult general admission and $4 for youth general admission. Children under 2 are admitted free in general admission sections.
