Aggies sweep Jayhawks: Sarah Ammerman had 11 kills and 11 digs, and Lindsey Miller and Jennifer Banse each had nine kills to lead Texas A&M to a 25-17, 25-22, 25-23 victory over Kansas in front of 1,360 on Saturday at Reed Arena.

"I mixed up the lineup a lot today," A&M head coach Laurie Corbelli said. "I wanted this group to still find the success and find what works, and they did. It feels great."

A&M (10-3, 3-2 Big 12) outhit Kansas .286 to .202 and put together a more solid service game. The Aggies had five aces to just four service return errors while Kansas (9-5, 2-3) had one ace to six return errors."Overall, our serve reception patterns were pretty well timed," Corbelli said. "Our block, especially in Game 1, was doing its job very nicely. And I thought Lindsey and Alisia [Kostmo] in the middle were doing a really nice job transitioning. We have been working hard on coming off the block and getting up quick in the middle and finding the shots that we are trying to exploit our opponent on, and I thought they did a really nice job at that as well."

A&M will host Kansas State at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

CROSS COUNTRY

A&M men finish seventh in Wisconsin: VERONA, Wisc. -- Texas A&M's men's cross country team placed seventh and its women finished 10th at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Saturday.

Syracuse won the men's title, while Duke won the women's.

A&M's Joe Sauvageau played 30th individually, followed by Mitch Bible (32nd), James Hodges (48th), Kevin Burnett (61st) and Andrew Montes (67th).

For the A&M women, Christina Munoz placed 28th followed by Itzel Cetina (54th), Natosha Rogers (63rd), Katherine Devlin (71st) and Sarah Balfour (72nd).

TENNIS

Aggies advance in prequalifying at All-American: TULSA, Okla. -- Texas A&M's Kayvon Karimi and John Lewis reached the round of 16 in the prequalifying singles draw at the 2009 D'Novo/ITA Men's All-American Championships on Saturday.

Karimi beat North Carolina State's Frideric Prandecki 6-2, 7-6 (2) in the first round and Saint Louis' Chris Eriksson 6-2, 6-2 in the second round.

Lewis advanced by winning a third-set super tiebreaker over No. 25-seeded Giovanni Vaglietti of San Diego State 6-7 (2), 6-1, 1-0 (4).

The event continues through Oct. 11.
