Aggies open intrasquad series: Nick Fleece threw six strong innings and junior second baseman Andrew Collazo drove in the game-winning run in the seventh to lead the Farmers to a 4-2 victory over the Plowboys in Game 1 of Texas A&M's Fall World Series on Tuesday afternoon at Olsen Field.

Fleece allowed five hits and two unearned runs while walking two and striking out three.

The Farmers had 10 hits including two each from Matt Juengel, Juaquin Hinojosa and Adam Smith. Junior Caleb Shofner led the Plowboys going 2 for 3.

Sophomore Estevan Uriegas picked up the win in relief with a scoreless seventh.

Sophomore John Stilson took the loss for the Plowboys, allowing nine hits, four runs and two walks over seven innings while striking out two. He also went 1-for-3 at the plate with his team's only extra-base hit, a second-inning triple.

Game 2 is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday. Admission is free.

GOLF

Aggie men close out fall with victory: DALLAS -- The ninth-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team shot an 11-under 273 on Tuesday to successfully defend its title at the Baylor Invitational at Royal Oaks Country Club.

A&M's team score of 4-under 848 edged runner-up SMU by three strokes while Iowa (865) finished third. The victory was A&M's second straight to end the fall season. The Aggies also won the Lone Star Invitational last week in San Antonio.

Three Aggies posted final-round scores in the 60s, led by sophomore Geoff Shaw's 6-under 65.

A&M freshman Cameron Peck tied for second individually with a 4-under total of 71-70-68--209, finishing two strokes behind individual champion James Kwon (76-64-67--207) of SMU.

A&M senior Andrea Pavan (70-72-69--211) tied for fifth, Shaw (73-78-65--216) tied for 14th, junior Nacho Elvira (74-72-71--2176) tied for 18th, and junior John Hurley (72-75-77--224) tied for 42nd.

Aggie women tie for second at Alamo Invitational: SAN ANTONIO -- Senior Julia Boland and freshman Sarah Beth Davis each fired an even-par 72 Tuesday to lead the No. 15 Texas A&M women's golf team to a runner-up finish at the rain-shortened Alamo Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.

The tournament was scheduled for three rounds but the first two were canceled Monday because of rain.

Seventh-ranked Tennessee won the title after posting a 1-over 289. A&M and Notre Dame tied for second at 292 followed by Nebraska (302).

Notre Dame's Annie Brophy and Tennessee's Nathalie Mansson shared individual honors at 2-under 70. Boland and Davis tied for fourth.

A&M freshman Chloe Garner tied for 10th (73), junior Sarah Zwartynski tied for 19th (75) and senior Ashley Freeman tied for 35th (78).

The Aggies close out their fall schedule at The Challenge at Onion Creek in Austin beginning Monday.

TENNIS

Aggie duo in finals at ITA Texas Regional: Texas A&M junior All-American Austin Krajicek and junior Jeff Dadamo eliminated Texas' Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico in the semifinals of the 2009 Wilson/ITA Texas Regional Championships to earn a spot in the doubles championship match set for Wednesday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

Krajicek and Dadamo were seeded ninth in the tournament draw and are playing in their first fall tournament as doubles partners. They will face No. 28 Raony Carvalho and Rafeal Garcia of Texas Tech on Wednesday. Carvalho and Garcia defeated A&M junior Alexey Grigorov and senior Marcus Lunt 8-3 in the semifinals.

In the singles draw, Dadamo reached the semifinals with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 quarterfinal victory over Artem Baradach of SMU. He later fell to No. 25 and third-seeded Carvalho 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3).

Last fall, Krajicek and former three-time All-American Conor Pollock helped A&M claim a sweep of the singles and doubles titles.

The singles final will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday followed by the doubles match at 12:30 p.m.
