AUSTIN -- The 23rd-ranked Texas A&M men's tennis team fell to No. 7 Texas 4-3 on Saturday at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
The Aggies won the doubles point when Wil Spencer and Beatty defeated Miguel Reyes Varela and Luis Diaz Barriga 8-6 at No. 2.
After losing the first three singles matches, A&M's Chris Chirico at No. 4 and Conor Pollock at No. 1 each rallied to win their matches before Spencer fell in three sets to Barriga at No. 3 singles.
With the win, Texas cut A&M's lead in the Lone Star Showdown to 7 to 6.5.
A&M (11-10, 2-4 Big 12) will host the Big 12 Championships starting Thursday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
