Aggie men finish nonconference schedule with win

The 19th-ranked Texas A&M men's tennis team geared up for Sunday's Big 12 Conference opener with a 5-2 victory over Louisville on Thursday at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

The Aggies (9-5) dropped the doubles point but rebounded with five straight-sets victories in singles to knock off the Cardinals.

After the Aggies fell behind 2-0, A&M freshman Wil Spencer notched his sixth straight singles victory and freshman Austin Krajicek beat Viktor Maksimcuk on the third line to even the team score at 2.

Senior Matt Bain gave the Aggies a 3-2 lead with a win at No. 5 singles, and sophomore transfer Chris Chirico clinched the dual match for A&M with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Simon Childs at No. 4.

A&M will face No. 21 Texas Tech (15-2) in Lubbock on Sunday.
