Aggie women in Austin for Lone Star Showdown

The fifth-ranked Texas A&M softball team will face Texas in Austin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Field.

Aggie third baseman Jamie Hinshaw was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday for games from March 31-April 6. It was Hinshaw's first career weekly award.

A&M (36-6, 8-0 Big 12) remained perfect in Big 12 play after sweeping Iowa State over the weekend in Ames, Iowa. The Aggies outscored ISU 20-2 on the afternoon, run-ruling the Cyclones 11-1 and 9-1 to sweep their fourth-consecutive conference series.

Texas (19-14-2, 5-3) is coming off a series split with Oklahoma State at home over the weekend. The Cowgirls took the first game 8-1 on Friday, but Texas rallied Saturday for a 9-2 victory.

A&M is also running a "Parents' Weekend" ticket special for the weekend series against No. 11 Oklahoma. Aggie students can bring their parents to the two-game series at the Aggie Softball Complex for only $2 general admission all weekend. Game times are 2 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.

Following Saturday's game, A&M's softball team will host an autograph session with free posters, magnets and schedule cards.
