The Aggies (16-10, 9-9 Big 12) never trailed, outhitting the Red Raiders (2-25, 0-18) .306 to .138.
"Our goal this match was to establish our offense early," A&M coach Laurie Corbelli said. "We really needed to get our middles more effective."
A&M freshman middle blocker Lindsey Miller was certainly that, leading the Aggies with a career-high nine kills while hitting .500. She also tied for match-high honors in blocks with six. Fellow freshman Alisia Kastmo had seven kills while hitting .667.
"I thought today was really a good demonstration of the talent that these freshmen have, and I thought the setters did a nice job connecting with them," Corbelli said. "It certainly helps to open up our outsides when we are able to use our middles that effectively."
Miller gave the Aggies the lead for good at 3-2 in the first set with her first kill and ended the set with another kill. Tech scored back-to-back points only twice.
Seniors Sarah Ammerman and Jennifer Banse had consecutive kills to begin the second set. Kastmo's third kill of the set ended it.
Ammerman got a kill to begin the third set, then served back-to-back aces to put the Aggies up 3-0. Tech managed to tie the score at 5-5 and again at 8-8 but was unable to take the lead.
Ammerman and Banse had nine and eight kills, respectively. Senior Mary Batis pitched in seven kills and six blocks along with a match-high 12 digs.
Senior Kristen Schevik-hoven finished with 32 assists, moving into sixth place on A&M's career list in that category (2,987).
Barbara Conceicao and Amanda Dowdy led Tech with 10 kills apiece.
