BATON ROUGE, La. -- Texas A&M earned a spot in the third round of the NCAA volleyball tournament Saturday with a five-set upset victory over LSU, 18-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-23, 15-10, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Aggies will take on rival Texas at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb., in the Omaha Regional semifinals.
Sarah Ammerman, who missed the Aggies' opening-round victory over Arizona on Friday after violating a team rule, had 26 kills and hit .396 against LSU. Jennifer Banse added 20 kills while hitting at a .348 clip to lead the team.
Brittnee Cooper led LSU with 28 kills, zero errors and nine blocks.
