Iola 38, Hull-Daisetta 14: NAVASOTA -- After Iola's "home-opener" on Saturday, the Bulldogs have doubled their 2009 win total.
Iola's new field is under construction, so the Bulldogs are using Rattlers Stadium until the new field is ready. They started off there with a 38-14 romp over Hull-Daisetta, improving to 2-0.
Iola sophomore quarterback Bryan Bradford threw for 100 yards and two scores, connecting with Heath Barney and Brady Beene in the first quarter.
In the second, Barney was on the receiving end of Beene's 42-yard reverse pass for a touchdown. Barney finished with four catches for 93 yards and had a 58-yard interception return for a TD, also in the second quarter.
After Hull-Daisetta fumbled away the second-half kickoff, Chase Cammack closed out the scoring for Iola on a 10-yard run.
The Bulldogs' defense forced seven turnovers, including interceptions on all four Hull-Daisetta pass attempts.
Iola will travel to Milano next Friday.

Burton 54, Somerville 0: BURTON -- Gabriel Patterson rushed for 306 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Burton Panthers past Somerville on Friday.
Patterson had touchdown runs of 6, 76, and 81 yards in the opening half, where Burton (2-0) scored all of its points. Burton gained 486 yards on the ground. The Panthers did not throw a pass.
Andy Gibson added a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown to begin the second quarter. Xavier Bethany had touchdown runs of 37 and 31 yards.
Dedrick Mathis had 129 rushing yards for Somerville (1-1). Matt Holliday added 82 yards on 16 carries.

Brenham Christian 60, Tomball Rosehill 12: TOMBALL -- Roy Dawson completed 6 of 16 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns to direct the Brenham Christian Eagles (2-0) past Tomball Rosehill Academy (1-1).
Dawson also rushed for two touchdowns and had 14 tackles for a Brenham Christian defense that limited Rosehill to three first downs.
The game ended early in the fourth quarter on the mercy rule.
Ian Roskow led the Eagles' running attack, carrying nine times for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Reagan Cameron, who rushed for one touchdown, caught eight passes for 62 yards and a score.
The Eagles' Kyle Armstrong was injured during the game and was taken from the field on a stretcher.

Coldspring-Oakhurst 26, Madisonville 0: MADISONVILLE -- Turnovers plagued Madisonville for the second consecutive week as the Mustangs dropped to 0-2 on the season with a loss in their home opener to Coldspring-Oakhurst.
The Trojans leveled their season record at 1-1.
Madisonville lost four turnovers. The Mustangs suffered five turnovers in their opening game against Navasota.
"We haven't established anything offensively," Madisonville coach Greg Morgan said. "The defense is on the field constantly. Coldspring dominated us offensively and defensively."

Calvert 61, Aquilla 36: CALVERT -- The Calvert Trojans built a 35-7 halftime lead and eased to a victory over Aquilla.
Calvert won its home opener and evened its season record at 1-1. Aquilla fell to 1-1 win the loss.
