Brenham falls to Waco University in boys soccer regional

GEORGETOWN -- The Waco University Trojans rallied from a 2-1 deficit to take a 3-2 overtime victory over Brenham in a regional quarterfinal soccer match Monday.

Brenham (16-6-6) held a one-goal lead late, but University's Jorge Deleon tied the game at 2-2 with three minutes left in regulation. Adrian Gonzalez scored the game-winner with 1:27 left in the first overtime off a corner kick.

Tanner Schmidt and Kaden Kieke scored on headers for Brenham, and Chase Coghlan assisted on both goals. Dan Escobedo had the goal that tied the game at 1-1 for University (21-1).

The Cubs' four-year string of reaching the regional tournament ended. Brenham played at state the two previous seasons.
