BRUCEVILLE -- Centerville's early season frustrations continued Friday when the Tigers lost 18-13 to the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles.
Centerville (0-2) started with a promising 97-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Cloud to take a 6-0 lead with 8:20 left in the first quarter.
The Tigers added another six points when Jose Mora connected with Michael Gwosdz on an 18-yard pass 43 seconds before halftime. But the Eagles answered with a 30-yard touchdown pass to end the half and cut Centerville's lead to 13-6.
Bruceville-Eddy shut out the Tigers in the second half, scoring a touchdown on the ground in each of the third and fourth quarters.
The Eagles failed to convert on two-point plays after each of their touchdowns, but the Tigers couldn't make it matter.
Cloud led the Tigers in rushing with 178 yards on 20 attempts.
The Tigers (0-2) will attempt to snap the losing streak next Friday at Leon.
