Crosstown rivals A&M Consolidated and Bryan combined to have five soccer players earn all-region honors by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Organization (TASCO).
Bryan senior forward Dani Fellows was on the first team. Teammate Brittany Little, a freshman midfielder, was on the second team along with senior forward Emily Smith, senior goalkeeper Megan Eikenhorst and sophomore defender Blake Martin from Consol.
Fellows, who played in TASCO's Senior Showcase on Saturday in Georgetown, had 14 goals and 13 assists on the year to power the Lady Vikings (19-9-2) to their best season in school history. Bryan, which finished fourth in District 12-5A, reached the regional tournament before falling to Westwood. Bryan posted the program's only postseason victories along the way, beating Tyler Lee, Richardson Berkner and Garland Sachse. Little, who had 10 goals and seven assists, was 12-5A's Newcomer of the Year.
Smith, who had 22 goals and seven assists, was 12-5A's Most Valuable Player. She also played in the Senior Showcase. Eikenhorst, who allowed only six goals in 28 halves, was 12-5A's Goalkeeper MVP. The defensive-minded Martin had only five goals but was big in Consol keeping its unbeaten record against Bryan intact. She had the only goal in a 1-0 victory in the first meeting, then scored with 99 seconds left in the second overtime of a 1-1 tie in the second game.
Consol was 17-7-2, losing to Garland Sachse in a shootout in area playoff action.
Belton, which beat Consol in the regular-season finale to win 12-5A, had three players selected led by senior defender Taylor Pressley, who earned second-team all-state honors. Junior midfielder Jourdan Brown was first-team all-region and junior goalkeeper Kelsi Darr was second-team all-region. Belton lost to eventual state champ The Woodlands in the regional semifinals.
Perennial Class 4A power Brenham had a pair of all-staters.
For the Cubettes, senior midfielder Kassey Nix was on the second team. She was joined on the all-region team by senior forward Haley Clanahan. Both have signed to play at Howard Payne. Nix had 10 goals and six assists, while Clanahan had nine goals and eight assists.
Brenham senior midfielder Meagan McNicoll earned second-team all-region honors for the Cubettes, who were 18-7-1, falling to Waco Midway in the regional semifinals. McNicoll had 19 goals and 16 assists.
For the Brenham Cubs, junior goalkeeper Drew Clanahan was on the second team. Clanahan had 13 shutouts. He was joined on the all-region team by junior forward Tyler Pieper and junior midfielder Gianni Contreras. Pieper had 21 goals and five assists and was 40-4A's Offensive MVP. Contreras had three goals, two assists and 121 steals.
Brenham junior midfielder Tanner Schmidt (2 goals, 11 assists) earned second-team all-region honors for the 16-6-6 Cubs, who lost to Waco University in the regional semifinals in two overtimes.
