The Consol girls scored 115.7 points to shade Round Rock (115.55) and Kingwood (115.1) in compulsory competition Thursday.
The Bryan boys lead with 174.2 points. Kingwood is second at 170.25 and Humble Atascocita has 166.7.
A&M Consolidated's Abbie Thompson is in first on the uneven parallel bars, recording a 9.6. Debra Roussel is also in medal position, holding the third spot on the balance beam with a 9.75.
Roussel is in fourth place (38.3) in the all-around competition. Elyssa Trejo and Thompson are tied for sixth at 37.9 and are also together on the beam, each scoring a 9.75 to share third place. Trejo is third on the vault at 9.9.
Bryan's Stefan Quartemont leads the boys' all-around with 58.6. Teammate Alex Reyes is second at 58.2. Consol's Landan Quartemont is ninth and Nevin Blum 14th.
Stefan Quartemont leads on the pommel house (9.8), the high bar and the vault, where he shares first with Bryan's Enoch Rodriguez. Both drew 9.8s.
Reyes had a 9.8 on the rings to lead. His 9.9 on the floor exercise gave him the lead and he is third on the high bar. Stefan Quartemont and Landan Quartemont share second on the floor.
Reyes is third on the high bar and he and Stefan Quartemont share third on the parallel bars.
Friday's optional routines begin at 10 a.m. at Tiger Gym. The top three teams qualify for the state meet.
