Consol's O'Shea takes 2nd in 100 breaststroke

AUSTIN -- A&M Consolidated's Sean O'Shea swam to a silver-medal finish in the 100-yard breaststroke Saturday at the UIL Swimming & Diving State Championships at the Texas Swimming Center.

O'Shea finished in 57.09 seconds, three hundredths slower than his preliminary time Friday. The Woodland's Chad Sorenson won the state title with a time of 56.75.

Consol's 200 medley relay team of Brett Cast, Sean O'Shea, Benjamin Jackson and Stephen O'Shea finished eighth in the championship finals with a time of 1:37.89. San Antonio Churchill won the event in 1:33.84.

Sean O'Shea swam in the consolation final of the 200 individual medley and finished 15th with a time of 1:59.60, a couple of seconds slower than his time in Friday's prelims.
