Game Day: Quarter-by-Quarter

FIRST QUARTER

Fourth-and-touchdown: Texas Tech's Alex Torres took a swing pass on fourth-and-1 and with two great blocks, one by former A&M Consolidated standout Detron Lewis, sped 56 yards for a touchdown.

*

Come on in, so we can walk on in: A&M turned a Tech blitz into six points when quarterback Jerrod Johnson floated a pass over onrushing defenders to running back Cyrus Gray, who scooted 12 yards for the score.

*

Nervous throw: Tech quarterback Taylor Potts had time to survey the field but couldn't find anyone open. He finally turned and badly missed running back Baron Batch with A&M linebacker Garrick Williams making an interception.

*

Key statistic: Tech had 192 yards passing.

SECOND QUARTER

Superman catch: A&M wide receiver Uzoma Nwachukwu made an acrobatic 41-yard jumping catch over Tech's Jamar Wall, who was called for pass interference on the play.

*

Stuffed!: Tech gave the ball to motion man Harrison Jeffers on fourth-and-1 at its 29, but A&M cornerback Terrence Frederick stopped him cold.

*

Turned away: Frederick came up with an interception in the back of the end zone with 7 seconds left in the period.

*

Key statistic: A&M had three possessions in the quarter and scored three touchdowns.

THIRD QUARTER

What a start: A&M freshman running back Christine Michael ran up the gut for 44 yards for a touchdown on the first possession, validating what A&M did in the first half.

*

Miller time: A&M's Von Miller had a 10-yard sack of Potts and caused a fumble on the play. A&M's Tony Jerod-Eddie recovered the ball.

*

Record crowd sounds off: Tech's record crowd of 57,733 roared when redshirt freshman QB Seth Doege replaced Potts.

*

Key statistic: Tech was 0 for 4 on third downs in the quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER

Jet sweep grounded again: A&M linebacker Kyle Mangan caused Jeffers to fumble on another Tech jet sweep with teammate Jordan Pugh recovering.

*

Draw it up: A quarterback draw by Johnson worked to perfection for a 21-yard touchdown run. Tech's defense guarded the perimeter and Johnson went right up the middle.

*

One more time: Miller sacked Doege on Tech's final offensive play, causing a fumble recovered by teammate Matt Moss.

*

Key statistic: A&M won in Lubbock for the first time since 1993, scoring its most points in the series.
