IOLA -- The Iola Bulldogs scored 20 points in the third quarter to pull away from St. Joseph in a 38-21 victory Friday.
Iola's Stephen Williamson led the team with 11 carries for 150 yards rushing and scored a 34-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Williamson also had three interceptions.
Teammate Chris Ebers rushed 14 times for 118 yards and scored two touchdowns on runs of 8 and 7 yards.
Trevor Fairbanks scored Iola's first touchdown on a 7-yard run in the first quarter. Justin Fairbanks caught a 27-yard pass from Bryan Bradford for a touchdown in the third quarter. Bradford was 2-for-13 passing for 61 yards and scored a 2-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
St. Joseph's Alec Castilleja was 12 for 29 for 200 yards passing, including a 15-yard touchdown strike to Chad Peevey. Castilleja also scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter, while Peevey added a 27-yard field goal to open the third.
Shane Peevey scored the Eagles' first touchdown on a 3-yard run in the second quarter.
St. Joseph (0-1) will host Katy Faith West on Friday, while Iola (1-0) will host Bartlett.
