The Bryan Lady Viking softball team split two games Friday in the Bryan-College Station Tournament at Lady Viking Field.

In the first game of the day, Bryan pitcher Michelle Stratta (1-0) tossed a three-hit shutout while striking out 7 in a 1-0 victory over El Campo.

The Lady Vikings scored their only run on a suicide squeeze in the fifth. Kristen Lara led off the inning with a triple. With one out, freshman Taylor Dohnalik laid down a bunt as Lara broke to the plate. El Campo's pitcher fielded the bunt and threw home, but Lara slid underneath the tag.

"Stratta did a great job of keeping batters off-balance," Bryan head coach Enrique Luna said. "It was huge for a freshman [Dohnalik] to squeeze in that run. We work on play a lot, it's kind of our bread-and-butter play."

In the day's second game, the Lady Vikings committed five errors and lost 5-0 to Austin Bowie in a time-shortened game.

Catcher Calli Wood managed Bryan's only hit, going 1 for 2 with a double. Courtney Ford (1-1) took the loss.

The championship bracket for the tournament is set, with Houston Bellaire set to play Ford Bend Elkins and Pasadena Dobie to face Alvin. The threat of rain forced tournament officials to move every game's start time back to 11 a.m., and officials will meet at 7 a.m. Saturday to decide whether the tournament will be ended prematurely.
