Brenham takes Game 1 against Houston Austin: The Brenham Cubs opened their best-of-3 Class 4A area series against Houston Austin with a 10-0, five-inning victory Thursday night as Kyle Mangan threw a no-hitter.

Mangan, who has signed a football scholarship with Texas A&M, also hit his 10th home run of the season. The three-run shot was part of his six RBIs.

Mangan struck out seven and did not walk a batter. He hit a batter, but the Cubs turned a double play as he faced the minimum 15 batters.

Brenham was 25-7 heading into Game 2 on Friday night against Austin (12-10).
