Bryan girls drop first district game: TEMPLE -- The sixth-ranked Bryan girls basketball team lost 46-42 to Temple in overtime Tuesday in District 12-5A play.
It was just the second loss this season for Bryan (22-2, 5-1) and its first in district play. Elizabeth Marrero led the Lady Vikings with 10 points.
Bryan will host Belton at 7 p.m. Friday.

Consol girls beat Belton: The A&M Consolidated girls basketball team beat Belton 59-42 Tuesday in District 12-5A play.
Karla Gilbert led the Lady Tigers with 21 points and 15 rebounds while teammate Meg Knight had 14 points, three assists and three rebounds.
Brionna Donovan added 10 points while Tierra Tucker had nine assists and Javan Booker had seven rebounds.
Consol will host Copperas Cove at 7 p.m. Friday.

FOOTBALL
Blinn named Team of the Year: The Blinn football team received the FieldTurf Football Award for Junior College Team of the Year on Tuesday.
The FieldTurf awards are based on tabulated votes from Howie Long and FieldTurf executives, which include a group of former NFL stars.
Head coach Brad Franchione also received his award as the American Community College Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year on Tuesday.
SOCCER
Brazos Christian get big victory: The Brazos Christian soccer team shut out Austin Khabele 10-0 on Tuesday.
Brad Brown led the Eagles with three goals while Zach Castillo and Sarah Humphrey each added one goal. Playing well offensively were John Gustafson, Andrew Gustafson and Logan Brown.
Keeper Colin Tseng picked up the shutout.
Brazos Christian (3-3) will play at Austin Regents at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Rudder shuts out Bryan JV: The Rudder girls soccer team defeated the Bryan JV 4-0 on Tuesday night.
Rudder's Jenna Galliher scored two goals while Katie Godfrey and Jacee Wren each scored one.
Kaitlyn Lampley got the shutout in goal for the Rangers.
Rudder will play at Navasota on Friday.
