Rudder knocks off Navasota: NAVASOTA -- The Rudder Rangers built a double-digit halftime lead and never looked back on Friday, beating the Navasota Rattlers 77-70 on the road to get in position for a District 24-3A co-championship.

The Rangers are a half a game behind Navasota in the league standings and can catch the Rattlers with a victory at Caldwell on Tuesday. Navasota is done for the regular season.

Marquis Taylor led Rudder with 24 points, including three 3-pointers. Will Martin and Domonique Robison each added 13 for the Rangers.

GOLF

Consol girls win Johnson Memorial: VICTORIA -- The A&M Consolidated Lady Tigers opened the spring season with a 12-stroke victory at the Lauren Johnson Memorial on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers led from the start and finished at 653. Round Rock McNeil took second at 665.

Casey Grice won the individual title and tied the two-day tournament record with a 5-under 138. Consol's Lauren Ballenger shot 89-79-168 while Angela No shot 91-81-172, Shikhi Cheruku 92-85-177 and Haley Green 90-92-182.

Rudder JV golfer places third: SPRING -- Rudder's Brady O'Neal shot 80 to place third, and Bryan's Matt Martinez shot 81 to finish fifth individually at the Klein JV boys golf tournament Wednesday at Gleannloch Pines.

Also for Bryan, Dylan Slovacek placed 56th with a 97, and Bryce Beall shot 99 for 62nd.

Klein Gold and The Woodlands I tied for the team title at 331.

GYMNASTICS

Consol girls win Ozen meet: BEAUMONT -- The A&M Consolidated gymnastics team won the Ozen meet Friday, scoring 105.65 points to Alvin's 101.8

Consol's Alison Garlick won the all-around after placing third in the floor exercise, fifth on the vault and balance beam and sixth on the uneven parallel bars. Consol's Catherine Chenault won the uneven bars, while Maggie Drummond placed first in the floor exercise and third on the balance beam. Rebecca Gamache took second on the balance beam, while Lena Serhan placed third on the vault, fourth on the beam and seventh all-around. Megan Schill finished fourth on the bars and sixth in the floor exercise, with Taylor Chenault finishing fifth on the floor. Maddie Street took fourth on the floor and sixth on the beam.

Consol's Ben Guzman took second on the boys vault, fourth on the pommel horse, rings and parallel bars and fourth all-around.

Consol will compete at Rudder on Feb. 26.
