Leon girls reach regional finals: TYLER -- The Leon girls baskeball team advanced to the Class 2A Region III finals with a 65-51 victory over Trinity on Friday.

Allison Carrigan led the Lady Cougars with 17 points, while Elissa Downey had 15 and Monique Dorsey had 12.

Leon will play New Waverly at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tyler Junior College.

Mumford beats Thorndale in area: GIDDINGS -- Eric Corona scored 30 points, and Luke Scamardo added 16 to lead Mumford past Thorndale in the boys Class A Division I area playoffs Friday.

Mumford (31-2), which had a bi-district bye, will face Ganada in the regional quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Monday in La Grange.

Centerville boys advance to regional quarterfinals: CONROE -- Michael Gwosdz hit 18 of 20 free throws and scored a game-high 25 points to help Centerville beat Houston YES Prep Southeast 62-51 in the boys Class 2A area playoffs Friday.

Clay Hardee added 20 points and 14 rebounds for Centerville (27-6), which will face Anahuac in the regional quarterfinals Monday in Tomball at a time to be announced.

Brenham boys advance to regional quarters: Four Cubs scored in double figures as the Brenham boys basketball team came from behind in the fourth quarter to defeat Galena Park 61-52 on Friday in the Class 4A area playoffs.

Brenham's Terrell Reese had 14 points while Deonnte Breedlove had 13, Chris Hull 12 and Jeremy Hall 11. The Cubs also hit 30 of 38 free throws.

Brenham (27-5) will play Niederland on Monday at a site and time to be determined.

Lexington holds on against Harper: In a low-scoring affair, the Lexington Eagles stayed alive in the Class 2A playoffs by beating Harper 36-35 on Friday.

Consol boys win two on Friday: PEARLAND -- The A&M Consolidated baseball team won two games but lost a third at the Pearland Tournament on Friday.

The Tigers run-ruled Dawson 18-1 and beat Friendswood 11-4 before falling to Clear Springs 9-3.

Consol will face Pearland at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Bryan wins two on Friday: After losing late Thursday night, the Bryan baseball team rebounded Friday for a 9-4 victory over Foster and an 8-7 victory over Lufkin in the Bryan Bomber Classic.

Bryan JV 10, Rosebud-Lott 0: Tyler Jordan (1-0) had eight strikeouts and gave up one hit. Michael Miner was 3-for-3 with two runs while Chandler Russell went 2-for-3.

Schulenberg 9, Bryan JV 7: Russell was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs, and Aaron Dugan went 1-for-2 with a run.

GYMNASTICS

Consol wins meet at Rudder: The A&M Consolidated girls gymnastics team edged Round Rock by less than one point to win Rudder's meet Friday.

Consol scored 105.05 points to Round Rock's 104.6. Highland Park finished third at 102.55.

Consol's Alison Garlick finished first on the vault, second on the uneven bars and all-around and third on the balance beam. Maggie Drummond took second on the floor exercise, while Taylor Chenault placed fourth on the balance beam. Lena Serhan grabbed fifth on the beam and sixth on the vault, and Megan Schill finished sixth on the uneven bars.

The Lady Tigers will compete at the district meet March 11 in Round Rock.

SOCCER

Lady Rangers finish season with win: The Rudder girls soccer team wrapped up its season with a 3-0 victory over the Willis JV on Friday.

Rudder's Katie Godfrey, Brooke Engel and Sonia Herrera scored goals, with Mara Boyd and Herrera getting assists. Kaitlyn Lampley recorded her seventh shutout of the season in goal.

The Lady Rangers finish their season at 8-2.

Consol boys remain undefeated in league play: KILLEEN -- Camilo Clavijo led A&M Consolidated's boys soccer team with two goals as the Tigers remained perfect in District 12-5A play with a 5-1 victory over Killeen Shoemaker on Friday.

Consol's Kolby Graff, Scott Meyer and Ryan Armatys also scored goals, while Andrew Meyer had two assists and Armatys had one.

The A&M Consolidated JV also won 4-0.

The Tigers (12-7, 9-0) will host Copperas Cove at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Bryan girls fall to Belton: Dani Fellows scored the lone goal for the Bryan girls soccer team in its 4-1 loss to Belton on Friday night.

Bryan (13-7-1, 5-4) will host Temple at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

SOFTBALL

Consol clinches spot it tournament final: DRIPPING SPRINGS -- The A&M Consolidated softball team clinched a spot in the Brittany Tuck Memorial Tournament championship game with two run-rule victories Friday.

Consol defeated Pflugerville Connally 11-1 in four innings. Jordan Berry was 3 for 3 with a double, triple and four RBIs, while Sarah Allison added two doubles and two RBIs.

Consol then beat Marble Falls 13-1 in three innings. Allison drove in five more runs with a home run and double. Ashley Warzon had a triple and four RBIs, while Berry added a double and three RBIs.

Sarah Halliwell (6-1) was the winning pitcher in both games, giving up a combined two runs on eight hits.

Consol (7-1) will face Cedar Park at 3 p.m. Saturday before facing Dripping Springs in the championship game at 7 p.m.

Bryan JV Silver remains undefeated: LEON -- The Bryan JV Silver softball team defeated Leon 9-1 and Wortham 13-0 on Friday, improving to 5-0 on the season.

Hannah Parker had a single and a double against Leon and Taylor Canales (1-0) had five strikeouts.

Canales was 2-for-3 against Wortham and Brittney Jones (2-0) recorded seven strikeouts.

Bryan plays Centerville at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, then Buffalo at 2:00.
