BASEBALL

Bryan comes from behind in tournament win: THE WOODLANDS -- Trailing by three runs in the third inning, Bryan's Jacob Sutherland made a diving catch to halt a Kingwood rally and sparked the Vikings to a 5-3 comeback victory Friday in the College Park Tournament.

Sutherland also had the game-winning RBI in the sixth inning. Krey Bratsen had a home run and three RBIs for Bryan.

The Vikings will continue tournament play with two games Saturday, facing College Park at 10 a.m. and Tomball at 1 p.m..

Tigers win big in Denton Ryan Tournament: DENTON -- The A&M Consolidated baseball team beat Mesquite Poteet 10-2 at the Denton Ryan Tournament on Friday.

Riley Ferrell improved to 2-0 for Consol. Andrew Brown went 3 for 3, while Caleb Riebe was 2 for 2.

The Tigers (10-3) will play at 7 p.m. Saturday against the winner between Duncanville and Denton Ryan.

GYMNASTICS

Consol takes second at district meet: ROUND ROCK -- The A&M Consolidated girls gymnastics team placed second at the district meet Thursday.

Round Rock won with 111.1 points, while Consol finished at 109.8.

Consol's Alison Garlick claimed third in the all-around competition, taking third on the vault, fourth on the uneven bars, fifth on the balance beam and ninth in the floor exercise. Maggie Drummond was fourth in the all-around, taking seventh on the vault, sixth on the uneven bars, second on beam and eighth in the floor exercise. Taylor Chenault took fourth on the vault, third on the beam and seventh in the floor.

Catherine Chenault won the beam and was ninth on the uneven bars. Megan Schill was third on uneven bars and 10th in the floor. Lena Serhan was ninth on vault and ninth in bars. Rebecca Gamache was eighth on bars and 10th on beam while Maddie Street took third in floor.

For Consol's boys, Ben Guzman finished sixth in the all-around. He was eighth in floor, third on pommel horse, fifth on rings, sixth on vault, seventh on parallel bars and seventh on high bar.

Consol will compete again at the regional championships March 31 at Rudder.

SOFTBALL

Consol wins in nine innings: KATY -- Sarah Allison and Sarah Halliwell each hit RBI doubles in the top of the ninth inning as A&M Consolidated beat Katy Seven Lakes 2-0 on Friday night.

Halliwell (15-3) also had nine strikeouts while allowing only three hits in the complete-game shutout.

The Lady Tigers (17-3) will play at Temple at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Bryan falls in Spring Break Classic: FARMERS BRANCH -- The Bryan softball team gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and lost to Flower Mound 4-3 on Friday in the Spring Break Classic.

Emily Peirce went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Lady Vikings, while Jennifer Saxby was 2 for 4 with a double. Pitcher Jennifer Kasper saw her record drop to 8-2.

The Lady Vikes also beat Kennedale 2-1 on Thursday at the Classic.

Bryan (13-6) will face Flower Mound again at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

TENNIS

Rudder beats Centerville: The Rudder Ranger tennis teams faced Centerville on Thursday at Sam Rayburn Middle School, where the Lady Rangers won 5-2 while the Ranger boys lost 5-4.

Jenna Vance, Victoria Hlavinka, Charity Scroggs, Andrea Bonilla and Zoe Hensley each picked up wins for the Rudder girls.

For Rudder's boys, top seed Thomas Welch won while Keith Lopez took two singles matches. Derrick Woodard and Ashton Logsdon also picked up a doubles victory.

Rudder will face Navasota and Anderson-Shiro on March 24 at Rayburn Middle School.

SOCCER

Bryan girls win at Shoemaker: KILLEEN -- The Bryan girls soccer team defeated Killeen Shoemaker 4-1 on Friday to improve to 7-5-1 in District 12-5A and boost their playoff chances.

With a win next Friday on Senior Night against Harker Heights, the Lady Vikings (15-8-2) would qualify for the postseason.

Krista Thomas, Dani Fellows, Deanna Jimenez, and Kylie O'Connor each scored goals Bryan. Ana Meyer was in goal for the win.

Consol beat Heights: The A&M Consolidated boys soccer team beat Harker Heights 2-1 Friday, essentially setting up a match for the District 12-5A championship against Belton on Tuesday.

The Tigers improved to 14-8-1 overall and 11-1-1 district. Consol will finish the regular season in Belton at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Kolby Graff and Nicos Georghiades each scored and had an assist for Consol. Matt Mjelde and Henry Denoux combined in goal for the win.

The Consolidated JV A Team finished in a 0-0 draw, while the B Team won 5-0.

Lady Tigers cruise to shutout: KILLEEN -- The A&M Consolidated girls soccer team defeated Harker Heights 4-0 on Friday, improving to 16-5-2 overall and 11-0-2 in District 12-5A.

Vicky Wilhelm led Consol with two goals. Megan Eikenhorst was in goal for the shutout.

The Consol JV also won 4-0.

Consol will host Belton at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
