NORMANGEE -- The Normangee Panthers beat Thorndale 20-7 on Friday in the 2009 season opener.
Normangee rushed for 318 yards as both Dominic Burton and Colin Reed topped the century mark. Burton scored the team's first touchdown with a 3-yard run in the first quarter and finished with 18 carries for 154 yards.
Reed had 15 carries for 107 yards and ran in a two-point conversion after Kolton Relles scored on an 18-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Cody Wolfe scored the Panthers' other touchdown on a 12-yard run.
Playing well defensively for Normangee was Cody Wolfe. Jimmy Smith and Tyler Johnson each had interceptions.
Normangee will play at Groveton on Friday.
