GROVETON -- Leaning on its strong running attack, the Normangee Panthers beat the Groveton Indians 36-28. Colin Reed led Normangee with 19 rushes for 142 yards, while quarterback Dominique Barton added 110 yards on 14 carries. Kolton Relles also had 53 yards.
Reed scored on a 1-yard run early and followed it up with a two-point conversion run. Reed also had a 68-yard TD run in the third.
Later in the first, Barton scored from 15 yards out. Barton also ran in the two-pointer, making the score 16-14 Normangee at halftime.
Relles scored first in the second half on a 13-yard run. The PAT kick was no good. Following Reed's second score, Barton added a second of his own, this time from 30 yards out. Relles ran in for two more points.
Barton also passed for 122 yards, with J.R. Shaw leading Normangee in receiving with six receptions for 104 yards.
Normangee (2-0) will host Rosebud-Lott next Friday.
