Former Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis was officially hired Tuesday by Arkansas. The hire was reported by several outlets last week, including footballscoop.com, which also said former A&M defensive back Ron Cooper has joined the Arkansas staff. Chavis has been an SEC defensive coordinator for 23 straight seasons, the last three at A&M. He was at LSU from 2009-14 and before that his alma mater, Tennessee.

And good luck to them. I hope he does a better job for them than he did for A&M. Yes, the defense is better than it was when he arrived, but clearly the bloom is of the rose named, "Chavis is a great defensive coach."
