3 A&M powerlifters head to world event
Three Texas A&M University students will soon head to South Africa to compete in the 26th Junior World Powerlifting Championships.
Texas A&M Powerlifting Club members sophomore Tiffany McKinney and juniors Alesha Summers and Dustin Witte qualified to compete in the championship for powerlifters under the age of 24.
Assistant coach Cort Spellman will accompany them to Johannesburg, South Africa, Monday through Saturday.
McKinney and Summers won the 2008 USA Powerlifting collegiate national championships for their weight classes, and Witte qualified for the world championships at the USA Powerlifting Men's National Championship.
