Six openings remain for a reading clinic being offered this fall by the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University.
The clinic, which provides one-on-one help for students, offers three diagnostic sessions and 10 to 12 instructional sessions. The cost is $250, and participants must commit to attending the entire clinic. Though most students are in middle school, participants can range from pre-kindergarten to high school students.
Each child enrolled in the program will work with a graduate student throughout the semester. The work includes an evaluation of reading problems, a remediation plan, targeted lessons and a follow-up report.
A&M reading professor Erin McTigue will monitor the students.
The diagnostic sessions will be held in late September, the instructional sessions between mid-October and Thanksgiving break.
The 75-minute sessions will be offered Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4:45 and 7:15 p.m.
To obtain more information or to apply for the clinic, e-mail McTigue at emctigue@tamu.edu.
