A&M to offer Ph.D. online for teachers
The Texas A&M University College of Education and Human Development will soon offer a first for a U.S. state institution -- an online doctorate in curriculum and instruction.
The program was designed for classroom teachers who plan to continue working in public schools while pursuing the degree, university officials said. It was approved last month by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Faculty instructors from across the college will be involved. Three dozen faculty members already have developed online courses for the four-year program.
Fifteen students will make up the first class to go through the program, starting in January.

Comment Title: A chip in the armor
Much of a bachelor's degree could be completed online. Think of the fuel savings that could be realized. Perhaps this is a sign of things to come.
