Bush slated for A&M commencement
Associated Press
President Bush is expected to speak during at least one Aggie graduation ceremony next month.
Texas A&M University has four upcoming graduations scheduled: two Dec. 12 and two the following day, including one for students from the Galveston branch campus who evacuated to College Station following Hurricane Ike.It was unclear at which graduation Bush will be the keynote speaker. A&M officials said details would be released Friday.
"We are extremely excited and honored to have the President of the United States speak to our Texas A&M graduates on this important day in their lives," Texas A&M President Elsa Murano said in a statement. "We are looking forward to his visit to Aggieland and the message he will deliver to our Aggies."
Bush's father, the 41st president of the United States, gave his first foreign policy speech as president at an A&M graduation ceremony in May 1989.

Well at least I'll be able to get to the A&M golf course for my regular game now. At 8:00 a.m. traffic would have been tough.

Comment Title: 'Sorry for the inconvenience'
A&M president Murano emailed graduating seniors with news about President Bush speaking at commencement - and detailed the new commencement schedule which changes the 9 a.m. ceremony on Dec. 12 to 7 p.m. that day. She apologized for any 'inconvenience.' Hmmm. What about all those plans made months ago: commencement invitations, expensive, non-refundable flights, hotel reservati0ons now unavailble for a different night's stay, party plans, caterers. Disarray. A&M's profligate spending of its constituents' good will is nothing new. While it's an honor to have the president so speak at my child's graduation, the thoughtless upheaval of our plans means we'll have to scratch out the time on hundreds of invitations, cancel our party plans and drive to Houston late Friday night for a place to stay. Out-of-state relatives will no longer be able to attend. Considering how upset we are this morning, we may not, either. Thank you, Texas A&M.
