The Exxon Mobil Foundation recently gave more than $1 million to the Texas A&M Foundation.
The donation was part of a higher education matching gift program in which the company provides a 3-to-1 match of donations up to $7,500 by Exxon Mobil employees, retirees, surviving spouses and directors.
The donors choose which programs will benefit from their gifts and the matching funds from Exxon Mobil. A Texas A&M Foundation spokeswoman said the organization would not divulge how the contributions were marked for use but said scholarships, special faculty chairs and professorships were among the options.
A representative of the Exxon Mobil Foundation could not be reached for comment.

Comment Title:
How does a 3 to 1 match of $7500 come out to $1 million dollars? Consumers better benefit if Exxon Mobil rolled profits back to us.
