Aug. 7 -- Jason Castro tries out for American Idol at an open audition at Texas Stadium in Irving.
Feb. 13 -- Fox announces that Castro is in the top 24 contestants to be invited to Hollywood.
March 19 -- Castro is propelled into the top 10 contestants after singing The Beatles' Michelle, a performance the judges said was disconnected and awkward.
March 26 -- Castro narrowly misses being eliminated after a performance of Sting's Fragile.
April 2 -- After a night of Dolly Parton and a Castro rendition of Travelin' Through, the Aggie makes it into the final eight competitors.
April 10 -- Castro advances to the show's top seven finalists after trading his guitar for a ukulele during a performance of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. "That was blazin' molten hot!" judge Randy Jackson said.
April 16 -- Castro advances to the next round based on his performance of Mariah Carey's I Don't Wanna Cry, which Jackson said made him feel like "I was at a weird beach luau."
April 23 -- Castro cracks the top five after performing Memory.
April 29 -- More than 350 people turn out at Texas A&M's Memorial Student Center to cheer Castro on TV as he performs Forever in Blue Jeans and September Morning. He moves on to the top four the following episode.
May 6 -- Castro is criticized by the judges for his performance of I Shot the Sheriff, then stumbles over the lyrics during his performance of Mr. Tambourine Man.
May 7 -- Castro is the 20th person eliminated from the show.
