Knight-Rigney Wedding

Knight-Rigney

Kari Elizabeth Knight and Matthew Charles Rigney were joyfully united in Christian marriage last summer on June 14, 2008, at two o'clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church, Franklin, Texas.  The ceremony was officiated by Jim Manning, pastor of First Baptist Church, Franklin.  Kari was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father.  Music was provided by Michael Rigney, brother of the groom, James Rigney, father of the groom, and the Brazos Valley String Quartet.  Scripture reading was provided by Toby Foreman, Minister of Music and Youth at First Baptist, Franklin.

Kari is the daughter of Shorty and Juanice Knight of Franklin.  Grandparents of the bride are Frank and Phyllis Shenkir of Bryan and the late Lester and Estelle Knight of Franklin.  Matthew is the son of James and Denise Rigney of Picayune, Mississippi.  Grandparents of the groom are Christine Rigney of Mississippi and Richard and Elizabeth Brooks of Florida.

Lindsey Knight, sister of the bride, served as Matron of Honor.  Bridesmaids were Kayla Halfmann, Emily Pridgeon, and Erin Smith.  Members of the house party were Maurcie Parmley, Chelsea Jackson, Carrie McAnally, and Nicole Paolini.

Michael Rigney, brother of the groom, served as Best Man.  Groomsmen were Daniel Wang, Matt Escarra, and Jason Sippel.  Ring Bearer was Reuben Rigney, brother of the groom.  Ushers were Ed Chao, Ted John, and Nathan Liang.

A reception was held in the First Baptist Church's Fellowship Hall following the ceremony.  Guests enjoyed wedding cake, punch, soft drinks, and a selection of cheese, crackers, and fruit.

Kari is a graduate of Franklin High School and a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Spanish.  She also received her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in the summer of 2008.  Kari recently completed her second year as a Spanish teacher at Franklin High School.

Matthew is a graduate of Picayune High School and a 2006 graduate of Rice University with a degree in Physics.  He completed his Masters degree in Atmospheric Science at Texas A&M University on May 15.

A weeklong honeymoon followed the wedding aboard the Carnival Cruise ship Conquest.  Matt and Kari have lived in College Station for the past year but are now in the process of moving to Huntsville, Alabama, where Matt has accepted a job at NASA.
