Mr. Garret Patterson Shean of Lucca, Italy and Ms. Sharon Patricia Jarvis of Stockton, California, announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Suzanne Jarvis-Shean, to Kemble Keith "Sonny" Pope, son of Mrs. Jayne McDonald Pope of Bryan, Texas and the late Mr. Calvin Ray Pope.

A graduate of Harvard University, Ms. Jarvis-Shean is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Horticulture and Agronomy at the University of California at Davis. Katherine studies how nut tree production will be affected by climate change. She is the fifth generation of her family to attend the University of California. The bride elect is the granddaughter of the late Captain and Mrs. Benjamin Campbell Jarvis of Fairfield, California and the late Mr. and Mrs. Austin Shean of San Francisco, California.

Mr. Pope is the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce in Davis, California and the owner of a business and public relations consulting firm, The Centaur Group. He graduated from Bryan High School in 1996 and attended Vanderbilt University and studied at Columbia University's Biosphere2 Center. Kemble is the grandson of Mrs. Ganelle Grace Cheeves and the late Mr. Marshall Wayne McDonald and Mrs. Dorothy Kemble Huncovic and the late Mr. Claude Stanley Pope.

The couple plans an August wedding in the Capay Valley in Northern California, and will reside in downtown Davis, California.
