* The Dallas/Jarvis Christian College Alumni Association will host its Thirteenth Annual Heritage Scholarship Banquet at the Westin Dallas Fort Worth Airport Hotel in Irving. Ruby Hines Henry, who was born in Bryan, will receive the Heritage Award, one of the organization's highest honors.



Sunday


* Emmanuel Baptist Church, 408 E. 24th St. in Bryan, will host a special presentation addressing the creation/evolution debate at 9 and 10:30 a.m. The event will feature Gary Bates, author and CEO of Creation Ministries International.


* St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 2700 W. Villa Maria Road in Bryan, will hold a traditional service at 9 a.m. and a contemporary service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jason Burnham will preach "Could He Be?," based on John 7:19-8:1, part of a sermon series titled "Jesus, the Most Interesting Man in the World." Adult and parent groups meet at 10 a.m. Children's Sunday school for ages 3 to fifth grade will meet at 10 a.m. Nursery care through age 4 is provided from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Children of all ages are welcome in the worship service, and a sermon activity time is available for those who wish to participate. * Covenant Presbyterian Church, 220 Rock Prairie Road in College Station, will have a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday school will be at 9:15 a.m. A praise worship service will be held at 5:30 p.m. with a light supper afterward. For more information, visit www.covenantpresbyterian.org.


* Peace Lutheran Church, 2201 Rio Grande Blvd. in College Station, will host guest speaker Bishop Mike Rinehart at the 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. services. He is the bishop of the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. There will be a reception to meet Rinehart after the 8:15 service.


* New Testament #2 Outreach Church, 1218 Ettle St. in Bryan, will host the annual men's day program at 3 p.m. The theme is "Can't Nobody, Won't Nobody, Do Me Like Jesus!" The speakers will be Minister Roscoe Mason, Dr. Sylvester Smith, Minister Oritz Green, Pastor Rosemary Thornton, Minister Kelan Dalton and Pastor C.W. Mayfield.


* Faith United Church (UCC), 2901 Austin's Colony Parkway in Bryan, will hold a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Karl Tewold's worship message will be "Not to Worry." Sunday school will be at 9:15 a.m. followed by fellowship at 10. Guests are welcome.


* First United Methodist Church, 506 E. 28th St. in Bryan, will hold worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jeff Gage preaching "Step of Faith," based on Joshua 3:14-17. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:45 a.m. Hispanic Ministry Sunday school is at 10, and worship is at 11:15 in the fellowship hall. Child care is provided. * Christ United Methodist Church, 4201 Texas 6 in College Station, will hold worship services at 8:15, 9:30 and 11 a.m. The Rev. Jerry House will preach on "World Changers." Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30. Child care is available for all three services and Sunday school.


* The Unitarian Universalist Church of the Brazos Valley, 305 Wellborn Road in College Station, will hold a worship service at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Eric Posa's sermon will be "Living with Virtue." Classes for children 4 years and older meet during the worship service. Adults meet at 9:30. A nursery is provided during the worship hour only for children under the age of 4. * Friends Congregational Church (UCC), 2200 Southwood Drive in College Station, will hold a worship service at 10:30 a.m. As part of the month-long Festival of Preaching, the Rev. Dr. Kyle Walker will preach. The chancel choir will perform Brahms' "Let Nothing Ever Grieve Thee." Child care is provided for both worship and Sunday school, and guests are welcome. * Hope Evangelical Free Church, 5376 Highway 60 West in College Station, will hold a 12-week women's Bible study on Beth Moore's Daniel at the home of Lena Junek. The morning sessions will be at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Guests are welcome. The church will also offer free English language classes each Tuesday in February and March from 7 to 8 p.m. Child care is not provided.


* Friends Congregational Church (UCC), 2200 Southwood Drive in College Station, will hold morning meditation at 7 a.m. at the church. Theology on Tap will meet at 5:15 p.m. at Murphy's Law in downtown Bryan. Guests are welcome to both events.


Wednesday


* St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 2700 W. Villa Maria Road in Bryan, will hold a meeting of the Young Professional Group at 7:30 p.m. in the Courtesy Room.


* Friends Congregational Church (UCC), 2200 Southwood Drive in College Station, will hold a contemporary worship service at 6:30 p.m. Guests are welcome.



Thursday


* Hope Evangelical Free Church, 5376 Highway 60 West in College Station, will hold a 12-week women's Bible study on Beth Moore's Daniel at the home of Lena Junek. The evening session will be at 7 p.m. on Thursdays. Guests are welcome.


* St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 2700 W. Villa Maria Road in Bryan, will hold an adult Bible study in the conference room at 6 p.m. The worship band will meet for rehearsal from 6 to 8 p.m., and the college group will meet for study, fun and fellowship from 8 to 10 p.m. in the Courtesy Room.


Friday

March 4


* St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 217 W. 26th St. in Bryan, is one of the venues for the First Friday Downtown Art Step. The event is from 5 to 8:30 p.m. and will feature two performances from a group representing Brazos Valley Symphony at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. The event will also include art exhibits by local artists and tours of the stained glass windows in the church. The event is free.



March 5


* St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 217 W. 26th St. in Bryan, will hold a spring festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The environmentally focused event will include information booths by local outreach groups and partners, games, crafts, a children's book exchange and live music. The event is free to the public.



March 6 to March 8


* Christ United Methodist Church, 4201 Texas 6 in College Station, will host a revival led by Bishop Bob Hayes and Ken Medema. For more information, visit revive-bcs.com.



April 9


* First Baptist Church of New Baden, 3663 New Baden Road in Franklin, will host a women's conference from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The theme of the conference is Beautiful Inheritance from Psalm 16:5-6. The guest speaker will be Julie Wages. Praise and worship will be led by Marsha Burden and her daughter Melissa Love. Lunch will be provided. Registration is $15 through March 18.
