College Station police officers to teach child bicycle safety

Members of the College Station Police Department's bike unit will be in Bee Creek Park Saturday morning offering safety tips to young bicyclists and even giving away a new bike to one lucky winner.


As part of the 10 a.m. event the officers have mapped out three separate two-mile trails for bikers of different experience levels.


Participants will learn how to utilize the bike lanes and how to follow all traffic laws that bicyclists are expected to follow.


Long-sleeved T-shirts will also be available that have the Bike Unit insignia on them for $10 each.


Parents and children are encouraged to attend the event, especially if their children ride their bikes to school.
