Bryan police on Tuesday continued to investigate a five-vehicle wreck that injured a driver on foot and four others late Sunday.

The first accident was spurred when a truck was rear-ended by a sport utility vehicle on Harvey Mitchell Parkway at the intersection with Pinewood Drive, Officer Jon Agnew said. The driver of the SUV exited the vehicle, and a car struck that person and the SUV, Agnew said.

A car stopped to avoid the wreck, he said, and that car was rear-ended by a fifth vehicle, pushing the fourth vehicle into the third one.

The driver who was hit after exiting the SUV had a broken ankle, Agnew said. That person and four others were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

Agnew didn't know whether anyone was cited in the wreck.
