A man who police said tried to urinate on a patrol car at Northgate, then ran from officers and lied about his identity, posted $5,000 bail and was released from jail.

Authorities said friends of the Waco man intervened and dragged him away from the car as he was about to relieve himself about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of College Main.

Officers tried to detain the man, who struggled with officers and ignored requests to sit on the ground, according to a police report, which details how the man initially identified himself by his friend's name, police said.

The man was charged with falsely identifying himself and evading arrest, each of which are a class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
