Will Bryan ban all those weathered gray fences?

So Bryan, the land of mile upon mile of unpainted, weathered and leaning board fences, is concerned that someone might use a bright color (Like maybe some of those people who aren't from around here? You know, they have bizarre taste in colors.).

This is not the most arrogant elitism I've ever encountered, but it is up there.

Come on. Someone, or a group of someones, needs to get a life. Up until now, no one has questioned an individual's right to choose his own paint color. That's why Sherwin Williams or whomever has about a zillion different shades. Is the streaked drab gray of weathered board fence on the approved list? I can't wait to see.

If we in Texas have progressed to the point that we need to push others around about the colors of paint they use on buildings, what's next? Approved colors for cars? Sounds like a logical next step to me. How about approved names for babies?

The Eagle failed to show due diligence in editorial

This is in response to The Eagle's editorial (Jan. 29) headlined "Due Diligence not done by Grimes judge." The only due diligence not done appears to be that of The Eagle's editorial staff.

The Eagle's hit piece conveniently neglected to mention the perpetrator had a long and violent criminal record and had forcefully attempted to take possession of Officer Bill Cross' firearm. This information was readily available from the grand jury that investigated the matter and chose not to indict Cross.

Instead, The Eagle chose to misrepresent the matter and portray the perpetrator as yet another poor unarmed citizen. Furthermore, Officer Cross was up-front and brought up this incident during his job interview with Grimes County officials.

What other "due diligence" would The Eagle recommend that is not already a matter of public record? Kudos to the leadership of Grimes County for seeing through this and hiring a good and honorable man.

Shame on The Eagle for misleading the public on such a serious matter.

Football venue should be renamed Kyle at Bush

Texas A&M President R. Bowen Loftin has stated that Kyle Field is either to undergo reconstruction or a new stadium may be built.

Whatever the decision, I suggest that new facility be named Kyle Field at Bush Stadium.
