A big round of applause for Sydney Aguirre, a student at Cypress Grove Intermediate School, who stars in Kid-Thing. The movie debuted at last week's Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. It was written and produced by Nathan and David Zellner, who are based in Austin but grew up in College Station.

Aguirre stars as a lonely 10-year-old who stumbles upon a strange scene in the woods. Variety calls her a "phenomenal pint-sized lead." Check out a clip of the film on imdb.com of Aguirre making a disturbingly funny prank call. And look for Kid-Thing to build buzz on the festival circuit, including the Berlin Film Festival and South By Southwest in Austin.
